trip to Ballylickey, West Cork, 4th-5th April 2009.
The first club event of the year took place on the 4th and 5th of
April, when we again returned to the Seaview House Hotel in
Ballylickey, Co. Cork. We had a large attendance, with over 30
members participating. Our new member, John McCarthy drove Pat
O'Brien's Mk2, and Pat came in his recently acquired, lovely 420
Sovereign, which of course members would have seen at the Christmas
even in the Trident Hotel. The event started on the Friday night,
the 3rd. We assembled at the hotel at 5 o'clock, and after a very
pleasant meal we had some social interaction with our fellow
members. The following day, after breakfast, we left and drove in
wonderful weather directly to Glengarriff, Adrigole, and stopping
for lunch at the famous McCarthy's Bar in Castletownbere. We
continued our journey on the Beara Peninsula onto Allihies, stopping
to walk on the man-made beach, and returning to the Seaview for
dinner. On the go again at 11 the next day, driving up over the
Healy Pass and stopping for lunch at The Mills Inn, Ballyvourney, on
time despite a minor over-heating problem with one of the Mk2's (no
serious problem).
