Photos from trip to Burren, Co. Clare, 23rd-24th May 2009.On Saturday the 23rd of May, the club headed westwards to Foynes in Co. Kerry where we visited the Flying Boat Museum. We drove on to Tarbert, boarding the car ferry to Killimor, again in glorious sunshine, driving through Co. Clare, passing Killaloe, Kilrush, Lahinch, and stopping overnight at the Falls Hotel in Ennistymon. The following day, Sunday, we drove along the coast of Co. Clare, passing the Cliffs of Moher on our left and stopping at Doolin, where we walked on the Burren. Continuing on our drive around Black Head with spectacular views of the Atlantic, stopping again at Ballyvaughan for lunch for our third time at Rose Cottage Tea Rooms - a lovely experience. After lunch, we made a further stop and walk on the Burren at the Dolmen. Shortly after that, unfortunately, one of our members encountered some difficulties with his water pump, which necessitated him having to have the car trailered home. We were delighted to see our new members Derek and Emer join with us at this event, and also our member from Limerick, Pat O'Brien, his wife Louise and son David in their wonderful S-Type. This event also was the first occasion that member John McCarthy brought his newly acquired Series 2 XJ6. We continued on to Corrofin, Ennis, and on to our home destinations in both Dublin and Cork.
