The Terenure Car Show this year was again a tremendous success,
both from the organisers' and our own club's point of view. The
weather was just right, dare I say a little too sunny, however
plenty of sun protection easily solved that rare occurrence this
year.
We were again very fortunate to get on board Spirit Motor Company
and our good friends at the Jaguar Heritage Trust who again came up
trumps, sending the XK180 concept car over to us from their museum.
The show would not be complete without the expert knowledge on these
wonderful cars given by Roger and Stuart from the JHT again this
year, as a constant stream of enthusiasts asked questions all day
about this iconic vehicle.
The weekend started at Spirit on Saturday morning when 15 or so
of our club members brought along their classic Jaguars as well as
the XK180. Being the 50th anniversary of the E-Type, it too was well
represented with Pat's and Michael's Series 3 V12's, and my own
Series 2 4.2. After lunch it was off to Terenure College to prepare
the site for the Sunday show. The marquee this year was a great
success, albeit a little hard on the club's finances, but well worth
it.
Thanks to our friends in the IJDC for organising the show, and to
all our members for helping to make it the success that it was.
John F. Sheehan.
