GENERAL 

The Board of Management is a body corporate and is composed of persons appointed by the Patron* and recognised by the Minister in accordance with the Education Act, 1998.

The Board of Management manages the school on behalf of the Patron* and is required to discharge the respective functions of the Board and of the school as these are set out in the Education Act, 1998.

The Board of Management is the employer of all staff at the school, teaching and non-teaching.

The Board of Management operates under the Education Act, 1998, and other relevant legislation, the Rules for National Schools, the Constitution of Boards and Rules of Procedure of Boards of Management of National Schools and regulations, directives and/or guidelines issued from time to time by the Minister and/or the Department of Education and Science.

Ms. Liz Donnelly (Treasurer – Selected from the community)

Mr. Frank Buttimer (Elected by the parents)

Mr.  Tom Clarke (Elected by the teachers)

Mr. Donagh Corcoran (Nominated by the Trustees)

Ms. Mary Lyons (Selected from the community)

Ms. Gillian O’Connor (Elected by the parents)

 

The term of service of the present members of the Board of Management commenced on 1st December, 2007, and is scheduled to end on 30th November, 2011.

The Board may be contacted either through the Principal/Secretary or by writing to The Board of Management, St. Joseph’s Boys’ National School, The Mardyke, Cork.

 

NOTE 

*The Patron of St. Joseph’s is the Bishop of Cork and Ross, Most Rev. John Buckley.

The Trustees of St. Joseph’s are those persons named as such by the Presentation Brothers, the religious congregation which owns the school.

“The role of trustee does not encroach on the rights and duties of a school’s patron”.
